Exploration of a Motif in Different Styles

In the early days of the internet, I saw a photograph at travel agency of a drummer and dancer that somehow spoke directly to me.  I wrote to them to see if I could use the photograph in my art.  Unfortunately, I received no response, probably because they did not own the image themselves as it was already a very tiny image in a large ad.

I decided to use it anyway because I liked it so much.  Due to it being such a small image, a simple enlargement reduced it to a delightful conglomeration of scattered pixels. I silkscreened the pixelated image in multiple colors and overlaid it several times in order to get a dynamic version of this dancing woman.  I had always wanted to dance and here I was!

And, I have plans for her in the future.  I have an image of her on my computer where she is reduced to her essence (actually several essences, as I have more than one incarnation to develop).  Some day she will be able to step off the screen and become a Reduction!
