This method of painting typically begins with a concept of what I would like to explore and the colors I might use.  However, as soon as the first marks are made, everything has to adjust because marks on material are different from ideas in your head. This is a highly flexible way of working that is quite like a game in its challenge and excitement.  I am both in the moment and strategizing for the next steps, all the time wondering how it will turn out.
